Abu Dhabi Finance Week (ADFW) has announced its fifth edition, scheduled for 7 to 10 December 2026 on Al Maryah Island, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. Hosted by the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) international financial centre, the event will operate under the theme “The Capital Community, Powered by Partnerships”, positioning the gathering as a forum for sovereign investors, institutional capital managers, policymakers and technology innovators.

The organisers are projecting attendance in excess of 35,000 participants and more than 800 speakers across four thematic days, with over 70 themed events scheduled. The 2025 edition delivered comparable numbers: 819 speakers, 35,000-plus attendees, 82 memoranda of understanding signed, and representation from organisations collectively overseeing more than $62 trillion in assets under management, a figure the release notes is equivalent to over half of global GDP. The 2026 venue will carry an expanded footprint relative to last year to accommodate continued demand growth.

    Agenda priorities and capital themes

The thematic agenda for 2026 will span tokenisation, private markets, artificial intelligence, trade, energy, real estate and infrastructure. The framing reflects the priorities of the sovereign and institutional investor community that Abu Dhabi attracts: long-duration capital allocation rather than short-cycle venture activity, and a focus on real-asset and alternative categories where Gulf sovereign wealth funds have accelerated deployment over the past three years.

Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, chairman of ADGM, said: “As the Capital of Capital, Abu Dhabi continues to bring together global investors, financial institutions, innovators, and policymakers to drive meaningful dialogue, mobilise capital, and create lasting economic value.”

Abu Dhabi’s position as a financial centre host has strengthened materially since ADFW launched in 2022. The emirate ranked first regionally and 12th globally in the inaugural NYU Stern Financial Centres Competitiveness Index published last year, and is home to more than $1.8 trillion in sovereign wealth assets across vehicles including the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Mubadala Investment Company.

    Regulatory and competitive context

ADGM’s regulatory architecture is a meaningful differentiator in the Gulf context. It is the only jurisdiction in the Middle East and Africa that directly applies English Common Law, a feature that has proved attractive to international asset managers and financial institutions seeking legal certainty for cross-border structuring. The framework sits alongside the DFSA in Dubai and the newer Riyadh-based infrastructure of the Financial Sector Development Programme, creating a competitive inter-emirate and regional dynamic for capital-event primacy.

For global financial institutions weighing conference budgets and strategic relationship calendars, the December timing positions ADFW as an end-of-year capital-markets convening alongside events such as the Singapore FinTech Festival, which runs in the northern autumn. The 2026 edition’s emphasis on partnerships and ecosystem connectivity reflects a broader strategic posture by Abu Dhabi to be seen not merely as a capital source but as a neutral convening ground for global capital flows, particularly relevant as Western and Asian institutions navigate geopolitical fragmentation in cross-border investment.
