The pen may also function a wi-fi presentation controller, and might exchange advanced menus and faucets with a single gesture.

CEVA, Inc. (Nasdaq: CEVA), STMicroelectronics, and Wacom Co., Ltd, have introduced that they may collaborate to develop an enhanced digital pen with a brand new wi-fi sensor module that extends the pen’s performance via superior gesture, cursor, and movement management. “The mixed effort leverages the specialised capabilities of the three firms to create a complicated, sensor-enabled digital pen that may be adopted by OEMs so as to add worth to their smartphone, pill, pocket book, PC, interactive whiteboard or different smart-display merchandise,” the businesses’ announcement says.

The Energetic ES (AES) Rear IMU Module combines Wacom’s digital pen expertise with a customized model of ST’s low-power 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit sensor and Bluetooth Low Power System-on-Chip (SoC), and with CEVA’s MotionEngine Air motion-control software program. The end result, the businesses say, is a low-power, extremely compact design appropriate for integration into any digital pen type issue. The sensor-enabled digital pen may also function a wi-fi presentation controller that may management the on-screen cursor with pure hand actions. It may also be programmed to interchange advanced collection of menus and faucets with a single gesture.

Chad Lucien, Vice President and Normal Supervisor of the Sensor Fusion Enterprise Unit at CEVA stated, “We’re excited to collaborate with Wacom and ST to carry our MotionEngine Air software program to the digital pen market. The compact code dimension of our software program permits it to run on the BLE MCU and offers unrivalled precision and management for motion-based functions. The modern product we’re bringing to market because of this collaboration ensures that OEMs have a production-proven design they’ll customise on the utility stage to distinguish their motion-sensing digital pen design.”
