Abstract Following the literature that uses data from the Consumer Expenditure Survey and the consumer price index, this article examines U.S. households’ inflation experiences during the recent period from 2010 to 2023. We construct group-specific market baskets to reflect diverse spending patterns and identify key differences in inflation. A political action committee with ties to major tech and crypto donors is raising the specter of disgraced ex-FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried to target New York congressional candidate Alex Bores as the state legislator faces a crowded Democratic field.A sharply worded mailer distributed by Think Big PAC told voters that the Democratic primary candidate for New York’s 12th Congressional District once got more than $100,000 in support from the former head of the failed global exchange, and alleges that “Bankman-Fried’s buddies are bankrolling Bores for Congress.” It also criticizes Bores’ campaign financing and positions him as out of step with…
Key PointsIf you’re new to required minimum distributions (RMDs), it’s easy to get confused about what you’re actually supposed to do. You don’t want to withdraw too little because you’ll pay a 25% tax penalty on the RMD you failed to withdraw. And withdrawing too much could raise your tax bill and cause you to miss out on valuable investment earnings. The good news is, once you know a few basic rules, the whole RMD process starts to feel a lot easier. One of the most important things to understand is that you don’t have to take RMDs from all your…
A new report shared with the Investing News Network by Keyrock, Safe and DLResearch analyzes how large crypto organizations are managing their digital wealth. A study of 25 major protocols’ balance sheets, including Aave, the Ethereum Foundation, Lido and Uniswap, found that the vast majority of the recorded US$5.6 billion — 93 percent — is currently sitting idle without earning income. As the sector professionalizes, a so-called “sophistication gap” has emerged between the tools available and the strategies currently deployed. The report’s author, Ben Harvey, argues that investors and stakeholders are recognizing that the way capital is structured, deployed and…
